Richard Eugene Lidgard

Richard Eugene Lidgard, 88, of La Porte, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023.

Richard was born on July 3, 1934 in La Porte, IN, to Dale Louise and Arlene (Hazlett) Lidgard. 

On April 26, 1958, in La Porte, he married Alice O'Krey, who preceded him in death.  On October 15, 2005, in La Porte, IN, he married Carol Jean Reeder who also preceded him in death.  Surviving Richard are his children, Brian (Christine) Lidgard, Brenda Riley, and Tammy Lidgard, all of La Porte; 8 grandchildren, Ryan (Allie) Lidgard of FL, Adam (Callie) Lidgard of La Porte, Trevor (Maria) Riley of La Porte, Aaron (Mandi) Lidgard of Valparaiso, Stephanie (Dan) Armstrong of La Porte, Jacob Shores of La Porte, Conner Riley of La Porte, and Alex Riley of La Porte; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Doris (Jim) Towle of La Porte; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Alice and Carol; and son-in-law, Patrick Riley.

For 4 years, Richard proudly served as an airplane mechanic in the U.S. Air Force.  He was honorably discharged in January of 1959.

He worked at Kaiser Aluminum, Clark Equipment, as well as Howmet.  Richard enjoyed gardening, hunting, and camping.

A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.  Burial will follow at Springville Cemetery.
